The Crappie Connection Owner Brad Chappell says,
“Bobby Garland is the only soft plastic I use. I’ve used it
for decades. I guide 150+
days a year. My primary
techniques are longline trolling and casting to open
water fish or brush piles. I
use jighead sizes from
1/32nd up to 1/8th oz. I
use 6# hi-vis mono
casting or longlining. My colors of choice are
Grenada Gold, Horsefly, Blue Chrome, Glacier,
and Junebug Pearl Chartreuse. I use all the Bob-
by Garland soft plastics, Slab Hunt’R, Baby Shad,
Stroll’R, Slab Slay’R, Pile Diver, Slab Dockt’R,
Swimming Minnow, Minnow Mind’R, and the Itty
Bit Soft Plastics.”
Trae McWilliams, MCC Youth Angler of the Year Winner, says, “I love the Top Hat
Jigs baits. I can cut them down to a smaller size when needed. I can trim the tail
to give them a
different look. I
can fish all day
with one bait
because they’re
hard to tear. I love the Peacock and Teddie Bug
colors because it will work on dirty or clear water, in the spring or all summer
long.”
Tournament Pro Bill Thornburg says, “I use Jenko baits. I prefer the Mermaid and
the Big T Fry Baby. Pitching to them is my primary
way of fishing; it’s
all according to how
fish respond, pitch,
or drop. I use Jenko 13 ft, Kevin Rodgers, for my
long pole and a
6 ft Hyper Sense
Marksman for my
pitching rod. Jig
heads I use Grenada
Lake Tackle football heads. Usually, I go with a 1/8 oz but use 1/4 to 1/32 accord-
ing to fish depth and weather conditions. I use 6lb fluorocarbon leader and 15 lb
braid. Color, I like Midnight Chartreuse or Pink. Continued......................................
